Assuming you had a nice car, home, valuable relationships, and you owed nothing to nobody as you now have more than enough money to spend to do anything your heart desires - the only question then to ask is “What will you do with your time now?”
Of course, you could wait to answer this question until you were in the situation where you are certain you can have, do, and be anything you want, but why wait when you can just answer that question right now?
What’s more is if you knew what you really wanted to be doing with your life and starting doing it right now, don’t you think you’d be happy and successful? Not to mention… when you finally get around to answering that question, wouldn’t you (the moment you decided to answer the question) be doing it right now anyway?
Think about it, whether we do something now, or ten years from now, or whether we wait to act until we think that everything is perfect, we’d be doing it right now anyway – the moment we decide to. You can’t do things in the future, you didn’t do things before, the only time anything was ever done or can be done in your life is right now in the moment.
You’re reading this book right now. You can’t read it tomorrow. Not really. Why? Because when you read it tomorrow, you’ll be reading it right now like you are right now.
As you begin to understand the concept of time (the only time you have is now), the starting point of taking control of your life is to live in the moment and decide right now the way you would like your life to be, and start living it. Right?
Now, fear is a common feeling. The feeling is real. Even though more often than not, the fear can never be justified. Fear is actually an important feeling. Without it, we wouldn’t know what safety feels like. If we jumped off a large rock at a young age and got hurt, we’d be crazy to think we could jump off a cliff and expect less of an injury. Fear serves a purpose – but many people get caught up in “what if?”
So how do we get past this?
You’re reading a book that is teaching you what you need to know about generating success and taking control of your life. The words in this book are encouraging you to live your life exactly the way you want it to be as if it was exactly the way you wanted it to be starting right now.
I knew a man once that was afraid to live life the way he had wanted to live it. He used to defend his position by saying “I need a paying job” and “I need to do what everyone else is doing to get by”. It is quite common for people to attach themselves to security. The moment their comfort zone is examined by what could possibly be better they begin to go into the “what if?”
They’ll often say things like: What if I don’t achieve my dreams? What if I can’t find profit in what I do? What if I lose my house? What if I can’t pay my bills? Send my kids to college?
Or they make excuses such as: I’m too old to do that now. What’s the use? I’m sick, so I can’t do anything like I used to be able to do. I don’t have any skills.
Make no mistake, however – these people are successful. They are successful at getting by, living a life the way everyone thinks they should, and they’re successful at preventing themselves from living life the way they want to live it!
So the question again is: how do successful people get around this? After all, you don’t hear successful people that are in control of their life making excuses or asking time-wasting “what if” questions that may or may not be true. Successful people are well aware of what they’re afraid of, but there is one thing they do that most are unable to do.
They take action.
Since successful people understand that fear is real, any time they have a question come up such as “What if I can’t pay my bills doing what I love to do?” they make a list of all the possible actions they know they CAN take in order to – for a lack of better words, prove that fear wrong.
Yes. Any time you fear anything you can counter that fear by acting so that you do everything in your power to make the fear obsolete. If you don’t think you can pay bills doing what you love, how can you make sure that the bills get paid?
Make list, and make it happen!
It’s just as simple as that.
Obviously, you must start with what you want by asking the magic question:
Assuming you had a house, nice car, bills were all caught up, more than enough money to spend and valuable relationships, what are you going to do with your time?
The rest of this book will show you how to put the pieces together from this basic foundation. Take all the time you need right now to answer this question on paper. Write it out. Will you write it down now or will you put it off at a later time, only to finally answer this question right now?
